New Release - Monday February 15, 2010. MicroArmor Inc.
WARNING - Shopping Cart Disinfectant Wipes pose a danger to Children and Adults if misused.
While the Disinfectant Wipes popping up in stores across the country to wipe shopping carts are convenient, seemingly useful and a good advertising opportunity for the company that supplies them, they should be used with caution. Unlike MicroArmor Hand & Skin Wipes, these disinfectant wipes are designed for surfaces and utilize harsh chemicals which are, as identified by the EPA, not approved for use on Hands and Skin and not safe for eyes and mucus membranes. This is particularly true where small children are concerned.
Unfortunately, many companies in taking advantage of the H1N1 scare, do not make this information easy to see on their label or the display stand near the shopping carts. Instead they highlight their anti-microbial claims and the ever common claim that it kills 99.99% of germs. While these products are probably good at disinfecting surfaces, the consumer needs to be aware that Disinfecting Wipes should not be used on hands, face or on surfaces which might remain wet while they are being used, such as shopping carts. Again, particularly when small children may come in contact with the chemical and then touch their eyes or put their hands in their mouth.
As a rule consumers should only use Anti-bacterial Wipes that meet the FDA’s TFM requirements on their Hands and Skin. Consumers can confirm that a hand sanitizer or hand and skin sanitizing wipes are safe for use if there is a DRUG FACT BOX on the label and the product is FDA TFM compliant. (TFM – Tentative Final Monograph for Over the Counter Antiseptic Health-Care Products)
In short FDA TFM compliant wipes can be used safely to Sanitize Hands and Skin.
MicroArmor’s Hand and Skin Sanitizing Wipes utilize a naturally derived, hypoallergenic and non-toxic formula that is Safe For Children.
EPA registered Disinfectant Wipes while safe for use on Surfaces are not intended for use on Hands and Skin and are not safe for Eyes and Mucus Membranes.
